The goal for this redesign was to amplify the sense of adventure and discovery that the book evokes. While the book focuses on a modern study of the birds on the Galápagos Islands, the studies of Darwin are still referenced centrally.
I chose to feature elements of the HMS Beagle voyages, including Darwin's sketches and a maritime map of the Galápagos to stir up a sense of exploration that I found to be lacking with the current cover variant (below left).
